Nick + John's Mad Men Wedding at the Ontario Heritage Centre

It’s kinda hard to believe the busy wedding peak season is over. It’s  funny how I spend most of the year working and happily designing with my couples and then it feels like the wedding passes in a flash. Though I’m happy to complete their edible masterpieces, it kinda feels like graduation where I’m happy for them and wish the best for their future. However I also feel like I’ll miss working with them and not sure when or if I’ll see them again. One of the couples that I’ll surely miss but will cherish that I got to be apart of their wedding day was Nick and John. Thank you to Tied Photography for sharing some of their photo’s of a couple that I loved working with so much . If you missed this previous post about their cake, the loving pair said their ‘I do’s” in style at the Ontario Heritage centre in downtown Toronto. They celebrated their day in class with a Mad Men theme to their decor. Check out this handsome duo’s captured day.

Baby Emerson's Birthday Sweet Table

This week here’s something a little different. It’s true, I love designing wedding cakes but I also love designing cakes and sweets for children’s birthday parties. But being that I book so far ahead with wedding cakes, it’s not often I can acomidate small events in busy season. So when the talented Rebecca Wood asked me to design her son’s sweet table for his first birthday, I was thrilled. With the adorable apple and blue striped invitations and stationary designed by Christine Flynn of  Love The Design being a great colour starting point, we wanted to incorporated subtle vintage farm influences. So for the sweets I created mini cherry pies, candy apples, caramel corn, milk and egg cookies, pumpkin cupcakes, homemade cinnamon marshmallow, white chocolate creampuffs and of course the birthday cake!  There is so many details to this , it’s probably easier for me to show you then to tell you.

I wanted the look of  these gorgeous White Enamel Cake Stands  for holding the sweets but didn’t have enough time to order them, so I D.I.Y the cake stands with candle sticks and plates. As well made the cupcake tree with baby blocks and chalk boards.

I love how cute the Milk and Egg cookies came out. They were simply decorated with Rolled Fondant and Ateco Marker Style Food Color Kit
