I love it when the groom puts his input for the design of the wedding cake. It shows he cares about the details and is excited for the wedding. For this three tier wedding cake going to the Toronto Botanical Gardens, the groom wanted to add little details like four leaf clovers to the climbing sugar orchids and flowers. The vanilla caramel cake turned out beautifully for their spring long weekend wedding.
I’m very fortunate to have talented and creative friends. Jessica is the talented wedding and portrait photographer behind Jessica Blaine Smith Photography . For my birthday we woke up extremely early to be surrounded by the cherry blossoms in High Park in the morning light. It was a lot of fun and I love how the photos turned out. Thanks Jessica!
She also took a few snaps of the royal wedding cake winner from the Marilyn Dennis Show.
Be sure to check out the feature on the Wedluxe blog. I feel lucky to be apart of a creative team for a style shoot atPowder Bridal on Market lane in Woodbridge. There they have gorgeous bridal couture like Jenny Packham and Aruna Seth shoe that dazzle with the impeccable jeweling . I was very excited to finally get to work with a talented wedding photographer – Elizabeth Kaye of Elizabeth in Love as well as De Rose Designs created some beautiful bouquets that were swoon worthy.
For the cake I wanted to style them similar to the Jenny Packham dresses that are tastefully and delicately sparkling with hundreds of jewels. Even with a small cake I found myself taking hours to attach the gems which gave me an appreciation of all hand sewn gems on the gowns. Enjoy and make sure to check out more on the Wedluxe blog!
I personally love Muskoka weddings with the blend of elegance and rustic bliss. For the the Victoria long weekend I delivered this three tier oval pumpkin caramel cake to the Inn at Christie’s Mill in Port Severn. For the design I hand painted and textured the cake with birch finish and enhanced it with bloomed sugar peonies, small blossoms, and berries. A perfect blend of the rustic north with pretty.
The day of the royal wedding I was competing in a live cake competition on CTV’s hit daytime show , The Marilyn Dennis Show. I only had a little over half of hour to assemble (decorations done in advance) with my lovely assistant Isabelle from J’adore Cakes Co. We competed against two other fabulously talented cake decorators: Flour Fancies and Fabulous Cakes. Time went by so quickly when putting together this 5 royal tier cake with 4 matching mini cakes. It was well worth it though because we actually won!
This past winter I had the priviledge of working with a creative team for shoot that was recently featured on the WedLuxe Blog. The inspiration for the shoot was from the custom gowns of Kim Ironmonger, owner and designer at Valencienne. It was alot of fun designing a cake around a dress the was in production at the same time and had to envision what fabulousness Kim was up to. The dress was stunning and cake to compliment like an accessory and not so much actually match.
